Field Trip: Turkish Festival in DC

Every year, the festival draws tens of thousands of Washingtonians to the streets to watch mesmerizing dance and music performances, shop at the bazaar, and experience Turkish culture. The festival will also reach beyond Turkey’s borders featuring the rich cultural presence of the Balkans, Central Asia, and the Middle East.

Please plan to meet at 3:00pm at the College Park metro station. Arash has metro fare cards for each of you which he will give to you tonight at the Persian House. If you have not yet done so, please enter Arash’s phone number into your phone in case you need to contact him for any reason: 443-760-7092.

You will metro as a group to the Metro Center station. From there:

·         Take the 13th Street Exit, take escalator to 13th Street;

·         You should be at the corner of 13th and G Streets.

·         Walk two blocks south to Pennsylvania Ave.

The Festival is held on Pennsylvania Avenue between 12th and 14th Streets NW, in front of Freedom Plaza and two blocks from the White House.

Please note that we are not providing a meal for you during this field trip. You are welcome to pack food for yourself or to purchase food at one of the many food stands at the festival.
