Field Trip: Panel Discussion at AU

Join the Persian Student Alliance @ AU as a panel discusses the implications of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (Iran Deal) on the Iranian people and its effects on the global sphere. Persian tea and sweets will be provided!

Ambassador John Limbert most recently served as the highest ranking official at the State Department dealing solely with Iranian issues, appointed in November 2009 as the first-ever U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iran. 

Nazila Fathi is an Iranian-Canadian author, and Former New York Times correspondant. She also reported on Iran for both Time and Agence France-Presse. Author of the book "The Lonely War: One Woman's Account of the Struggle for Modern Iran", Fathi interweaves her personal history with that of Iran, from the 1979 Revolution until, when continuing to report from Iran became life threatening in 2009, she was forced into exile. 

Negar Mortazavi was born in Tehran and has lived and worked in the U.S. since 2002. For four years, Negar served as the Social Media Manager and TV host of a daily interactive program at Voice of America (VOA) Persian. Negar writes, reports and tweets on Iran extensively and is a frequent commentator on national and international outlets including Aljazeera, BBC, Huffington Post. She was named among Guardian's top 10 twitter accounts on Iran. She tweets at @negarmortazavi. 

Todd Ruffner is POMED’s Advocacy Associate and Editor of the POMED Wire blog, the Weekly Wire digest, the Egypt Daily Update, and the Bahrain Weekly Update. He has studied the Middle East since 2005, having lived and studied in both Cairo and Damascus. He previously served as a policy intern at POMED and the National Iranian American Council.
