Nowruz: A Persian New Year Celebration

Elahe Amiri will be setting up the haft sin table at the Smithsonian Sackler and Ripley Center, and you are invited to help her set up and to speak with interested individuals who are attending this fantastic event. Ring in the Persian New Year at our eighth annual Nowruz celebration! With free attractions for all ages, this scaled-down version of our usual festival is held in the Sackler and adjacent Ripley Center as the Freer undergoes renovation. Activities include:
- Haft sin table display
- Storytelling by Xanthe Gresham
- Book signing by Najmieh Batmanglij
- Hands-on art activities
- Photo booth
- Food trucks
- Featured exhibitions Turquoise Mountain: Artists Transforming Afghanistan and The Heart of an Empire: Herzfeld’s Discovery of Pasargadae
