Dr. Nahal Akbari is the director of the Persian language program, including its Flagship component. Since 1996, she has taught ESL, ESP, academic writing courses, and Persian as an additional language. Her research interests include intercultural rhetoric, academic literacy, second language writing, and teacher education.

Manizhe Galledari received her master's degree in teaching Persian to non-native speakers. She taught Persian at Qazvin International University in Iran for 14 years, and also taught numerous short-term courses in other universities both inside and outside of Iran. She is the author of three books and co-writer of two others in the field of teaching Persian language. Her main interests are improving different language modalities.

Dr. Ali R. Abasi is the Associate Director for the Persian Flagship Program and an associate professor of Persian. His primary research interest is second language writing. Some of his most recent publications have appeared in the Journal of Second Language Writing, Journal of Language and Politics, English for Specific Purposes, and Journal of English for Academic Purposes.

Mitra is the program coordinator for the Persian Flagship Program. She graduated from the program in 2018 and received her B.A. in Persian Studies with minors in Middle Eastern Studies and International Development and Conflict Management from the University of Maryland. During her undergraduate studies, Mitra founded Roshangar: Roshan Undergraduate Persian Studies Journal and worked with Afghan refugees with the IRC. She has studied in both Tajikistan and Jordan.
